Thing 8 Wikis

Wiki spaces have been around for awhile and have been a resource that many teachers have embrased, however they have come a long way in the past 5 years.

I really like the idea of using a class Wiki to share data between classes. I have a Science Lab and see 2nd through 5th graders in the lab. The Kinder and First graders all do labs within their classrooms. The problem is that we need 21st Century Learners who can communicate in person as well as via the web to distant locations. We can create this senario within the school using wiki's!

In addition, I love having the voki's on the web pages b/c I am one who TOTALLY struggles on every page I visit. I always feel LOST and the voki is a great way to explain how to navigate to those non-native technology challenged individuals like myself.

My comment added to Dr. Wilson's Wiki Space:

"Tammy (2013) I am wanting to create a 21st Learning environment in my Science lab by incorporting a wiki space that each class can upload pics, data, design ideas, collaborate, comment, share, evaluate, and communicate between different classes. Each of the 2nd through 5th grade classes come through the lab and reflection is part of their goal. Reflections can be shared, even if a pic of their journal entry is uploaded and shared. Kids will be able to see many examples and non-examples of quality work that they can use as a guide for improvement."
